“No, I just want to stay here. I don’t need to play. It’s okay if I never do,” he said.

Where for art thou? These individuals LOVE to be ALONE, and in any way possible, like keeping it that way. A lover dubbed by his classmates, he’s the one who doesn’t talk to a lot of people and sits out every activity in PE during those first years (as if teaching your classmates who did not know how to dance was hard enough). They’re the ones that avoid activities with others and prefer to be emotionally detached from everyone else. Persons with schizoid personality disorder are shy introverts and short-answered folks, in which their best defense mechanism is intellectualization - most notably, daydreaming.

“Hello, hello?” waving your hand up and down in front of their face, but still no reaction. They’re the ones who daydream during classes - some kind of compensation for the limited social interaction that they have (I guess they’re probably imagining they’re Harry Potter and “He that shall not be named” is coming soon.) :-)
