This guava tree
Posted by yeng at 3:34 am in Uncategorized

Well I have been looking at the screen for several minutes now and still I couldn’t figure out what to write. Every now and then I glance at my window looking enviously at the guava tree over my neighbor’s lot. My mouth going watery every time  my eyes fall on the many yellow and green guavas hanging as if calling me to pick and devour them.

I could see one guava being left half-eaten by a bird and it sent me to wish I was that bird. I wanted to tell Tata Bing to ask some from the neighbor but I got to shy to tell her that.

I felt like a little girl once again longing for a thing, maybe some candies or dolls.

Oh I might as well forget about this guava thing and think of my Christmas list first.

And this one too is still empty and to think that Christmas is just four days to go.

Help! Give me recipe for carbonara
Posted by yeng at 10:59 pm in mom's thoughts

I am not a good cook, Yup I admit this, but I have never tried learning to make a palatable dish for my family and much more still trying to squeeze my brain over the food that I will prepare for our Noche Buena.

My friends keep on asking me the recipe for carbonara and I could only tell her the ingredients I could remember from what I have eaten in Pizza Hut and Greenwich. And so we try to list everything we could think of because we don’ really have the time to make a quick look in any recipe book. Hehehe, truth is we don’t have one.

All the while we thought that the best recipe in making carbonara is the all-purpose cream  until Assunta de Rossi said in a cooking portion in Boy and Kris said that the authentic carbonara uses egg white. What?!?

Now, we are once agin in square one and so I said maybe we need to ask the help of an expert and maybe look for a recipe that will really  help us in making carbonara.

The party
Posted by yeng at 7:40 am in mom's thoughts

We had our Christmas Party last Saturday with our co-workers in one of the resort here in the city. Honestly I was not too excited about it.

Why?

I have been in this resort several times in the year as most of the parties that I attended this year were held here. I wanted to have the party somewhere new, but the officers of our association’s club chose this place after all the meetings we had and all the suggestions that the body has made. That was all in vain.

Secondly, I have already predicted a scenario - we come, we play a little, we eat and we leave. That has always been the case. For years, whenever we hold our party, everybody seemed to be drifting away after eating which I find really very disgusting. Who are mostly left behind? We, my friends in our working place and some oldies whom we admired so much because they are not kill joys.

As predicted, that what really happened last Saturday.  Only a few were left after lunch.

But what really saddened me was the canceled party that we have planned together with my friends. We were supposed to move to a Videoke bar somewhere in the city where we could have a room for a privacy and we could sing all the night long, but some members of the group had changed their minds during the last minute and that left only five of us wanting to go on.

And so what happened next was all of them went home. My husband said that we might as well stay behind first as he wanted to relax too before going home and so we stayed together with two other couples from our working place and so even if there were only six of us in the hall because a few others who were left were deeping in the water we tried to enjoy the night singing our hearts out.

I admit I have never been a good singer and so whenever it is my turn to sing I always say this line, “Okay fans cover your ears now.” That would send them laughing out loud specially after every song which luckily I would score 98. Hehehe.

Anyway, at 8:30 p.m. we left and spent the night in my in-laws home.

A Christmas wedding
Posted by yeng at 5:21 am in mom's thoughts

December is probably the time of the year when most couples choose to hold their wedding day.

For one it is a festive month since we are also celebrating Christmas on this month and another thing it is also the time of the year when most of the family members and even friends come home to celebrate the holidays with the whole clan.

Everything also come to its cheap since almost everything a couple needs is discounted. These include hotel and reception areas, wedding accessories, church decorations                ( sometimes it comes for free as most of the churches are already decorated with Christmas trimmings and all), and even wedding invitations come in cheap.

Wedding invitations are one of the most important things a couple should give special attention to as if would reflect the couple’s personality and creativity. Most of the time it would also help a guest to determine the kind of wedding a couple is planning to have.

If you are planning to make your Christmas wedding much more memorable, then make a thorough decisions and planning on your wedding invitation, it could be cheap but it might be the most elegant wedding invitations there is.

And if think that conceptualizing one is hard, then check out several wedding websites in the internet. In fact the internet has helped me a lot in designing my own wedding invitation almost six years ago.

A Christmas Wish
Posted by yeng at 7:34 pm in wishes

Last night, while having our nocturnal session, that is talking in the bed after we said our prayer, I asked my kids what they want for Christmas.

My daughter has also already expressed her wish during an activity in their school wherein they were asked to draw the things they want to receive on Christmas. She wrote the words “for kitchen”and drew small plates fork spoon and knife, stove, refrigerator and just everything what she sees inside the kitchen. She actually wants a kitchen set toy.

And when I asked her what else does she want, she said books, many books, particularly that Bible for Children with illustrations on it.

The boy said he wants “Deal or No Deal” That gave me and my daughter a quizzical look. And when we asked what that was.

He said “blifcase.” He means “briefcase.” And explained in a language where his bigger sister is the only one who could interpret to us.

So that  according to him, when he dances the Deal of No Deal dance along with the 26 K , he could have a briefcase, too.

Now, that somehow irked my husband a bit and he said that is for girls. And so he added that he wants to have a toy car and toy gun too.

Well he could have the toy car but not the toy gun and as for the briefcase, I am still contemplating on it unless he would say that he is the banker.

The Gift
Posted by yeng at 6:39 am in Uncategorized

On the evening of my birthday, my sis in law was online and we chatted for more than an hour. She asked me if I have one particularly thing that I wanted to buy for myself  what would it be. I was too shy to answer that question because what I really liked would sound very funny to my husband.

What is it that I want? Well just a pair of Nooza shoes. That rubber shoes (material used  is the same as that of the materials used in Crocs) that is very flat colored black and another pair that is skintone.

You see, my husband feels that I just have a lot of shoes and I don’t need one. He told me instead of that if he could give me a gift this Christmas it would be a family insurance plans because the whole family will benefit from it. In fact he said at this time he is looking for some online insurance policy that could help him decide on this matter.

Now, that really is a good idea. I wonder, is he really serious about it? I guess so because I saw his brows knit and when he does that, he is really serious.

Later on he told me that he is contemplating on this website in the net on cheaper insurance rates and he seemed very interested in it.

I just do hope that he will be really serious on it. For I really do believe that it would be the best not only a birthday but also a Christmas gift for the whole family.

Today is my day
Posted by yeng at 5:38 am in Uncategorized

Another year is added to me. I felt sad as I left home this morning looking at my two kids waving both my husband and me goodbye as we were off to work.

My daughter could not help asking where would I celebrate my birthday. I said in school. She asked, “Why?”

Because I would be working and I was very busy and so I would ask my co teachers to help me cook in the school so we could celebrate there.

I could feel that her eyes were almost brimming with tears while the young one was waving sadly and oh I felt the a very big lump on my throat and I wish I could stay the whole day.

In school, the teachers in my department ask me what my wish was. I wanted to say I wished I were home. But, I know they may not understand it much and so I said loudly that I wish someone would give me and my family a healthcare insurance so we won’t worry if one day we could get sick.  Something that would cater the medical needs of the whole family, definitely something that would give us a  major medical family plans.

And they said, well you can have it. But, medical insurance might be very expensive. Somebody said well I could start looking in the internet since that is what I am doing all the time. May be I would first look for things where I can save money on insurance.

Well, so much for that wish. Anyway, I was still able to celebrate my birthday at home with my kids feasting on spaghetti and cake.

Blogging and earning
Posted by yeng at 5:47 am in mom's thoughts

I started writing when I was eleven. That was for our school publication in elementary, since then I started to maintain a diary. But unfortunately I lost all my diaries as we kept on moving from one house to another.

Although, I never stopped writing since I write speeches and letters for my heads ( the past and the present), but I don’t have any collection of their speeches and mind you I never got paid for it. Hahaha, quite sad, huh.

When I discovered blogging early this year, I  became apprehensive at first since I really didn’t have any idea on what it is all about. But then my sis in law Ann told me that it was just like writing a diary but you got to let other people read your thoughts and not just other people, it means that you’ve got to share your thoughts and ideas to the whole world. One thing more you could earn money too through blogging.

Now that motivates me more and so I started to make a blog and in fact I have already four blogs. I do love it since I got to express all my feelings and I could also  ask others about their thoughts too.

Much more I got to be paid for it. Just today I discovered Blogvertise, as website that gives bloggers like me to earn from just voicing out my opinion. And I wish this blog will be approved. I am actually crossing my finger. Really tight.

Christmas is in the air
Posted by yeng at 2:28 am in mom's thoughts

I love waking up this morning. A soft breeze touched my face as Dad and I prepared for our early trip to the market.

The air was cold and it tells me  that Christmas is indeed here. I love the the cold breeze and so upon arriving from the market I immediately put on my favorite Christmas album - Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas Songs.

Christmas does really  bring a different spirit as it cause glow in every person’s face. My kids were extra happy when they woke up today. My husband was wearing a strange clown-like smile all the time and stopped being grumpy. The people in the market were very considerate and easily giving in to my bargain. Wow that was really special.

Wow maybe this could be the Christmas we will going to have  as we will also celebrate our first Noche Buena in our new home.

Well, I am really very excited.
