While I was updating my profile in kamppagasa.com I recalled the experiences that I had with fellow volunteers and dear campers.I uploaded all the photos that I had taken during that time.As I was putting captions I remember my camper.His name is Albert.A nine-year old boy with down syndrome.We attended a 2-day seminar to give fore knowledge about the children’s physical and emotional conditions before the day of the camp came.We were told that a child with  down syndrome can develop a strong bond with a person who takes care of him.When he feels that he’s cared and loved he shows public affection.

In 8 days that I was with Albert, I found out that it’s really true.He hugs and kisses me.The most funny thing that he had done was when he says “Mahal,mahal na kita!”.In English it means “I Love You So Much”. Every time he utters these words I’d say I Love you too.My groupmates are aware of it and they call us both “Mahal“.

As of now, I don’t know where Albert is.If he’s joining this year I’d be happy to see him again.

I had the chance to work with Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao or commonly known as BEAM.It is an Aus-aid program devoted to help the public schools in entire Mindanao by enriching/enhancing teachers’ abilities and providing financial assistance to effectively achieve the learning goals. I was hired by a former Pre-service adviser name Yvonne Zeegers and while I was working in their office I noticed very unique and well- chosen banner stands australia that fitted to their  projects which is distance learning.

During our break time I read some of their annual activities, reports and accomplishments that are printed and placed in a systematic and balanced brochure stand australia .It first caught my attention.A brilliant idea came along then.I keep in mind that proper selection of materials needed in presentation and promotion will definitely make a certain project successful.Moreover, great taste in preferences along with harmony will guarantee lasting investment.I belong in the field of Education and the experiences and things that I learned in that place are worth-keeping.I am always thankful with their help/assistance given in behalf of every student in Mindanao for their support and will to make the Educational syten in this big island  to become better and more aligned with the needs of every learning institution.

I’ve got a theory with regards to my runny nose. I hate to have this! First, I can’t concentrate with my work. Second, I don’t want my students to acquire viruses from me due to my condition.Third, I don’t like taking  medicines!So I did search online about it because it usually happens to me if  rainy season is over and  summer time starts to come. I found out that using an ac with much cold and having a hot weather outside will definitely cause you to have it because our body can’t easily adapt the changes of temperature.Another one is it is highly caused by dust particles inhaled.I sometimes forget to bring my hanky and last week I’d been visiting the smokey downtown area! A registered nurse commented also that it can be seasonal asthma.So the best thing to do is to get over  the counter medications.Reading that page helped me a lot!

My mom always reminds us to change our beddings to get rid of dusty particles that might irritate our nose.My younger sister is allergic to it so we are very careful.

In Davao, the warm temperature starts to rise. Because of our topographical characteristics and geographical location my city is rarely visited by typhoons.The coolest months are from November to February with an average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.Wet season is over and it means that summer infections/diseases can attack us. During the peak summer months from March to May, the average temperature is  28 degrees Celsius but may rise as high as 32 degrees!

Since the calendar hits the month of March, the sun’s heat is hurting my eye! I can look outside for a long time without wearing a sun visor.I notice a great change of weather  nowadays and I need to have my umbrella all the time.Rain usually pours in the afternoon or in the evening

I didn’t take a nap this afternoon. I wasn’t sleepy so since I got nothing to do I spent few hours in watching a movie. Everybody was sleeping. I got really bored! I looked for some DVDs and I found “Enemy of the State”. The main cast was Will Smith. I like him. So are his movies.

In the movie, he was a good and respected lawyer with loving wife. He’s got a son. His life turned  upside down when somebody who had recorded the death of a congressman passed the copy of the said video to him unknowingly!

I had read a book closely similar to this movie and one of the supporting character was right when he said that “the more you use advanced technologies the easier for the state to locate your whereabouts”. Through the satellite, whatever and whoever can be monitored with the use of a tracking device. This is a great help for people’s protection and for depending the nation’s freedom.On the other hand, people’s privacy is no longer enjoyed if you’re being tracked, right?

The movie was good. I enjoyed it. I took the chance to watch one because I seldom watch movies at home. Most of time I’m with my buddy-the computer!LOL I rarely watch movies in the internet also because I prefer to pour my thought and update my blogs.

Kind-hearted showbiz personalities are again working hand in hand to help the needy and indigenous people.The true spirit of Christmas is sharing and giving love.According to ABSCBN Network President Charo Santos-Concio Christmas is all about love and nothing else. I heard her say those words in their station Christmas I.D.

We can give love during Holiday season through offering to people what we have and sharing our blessings to them.It’s better to give than to receive as we commonly heard. We are  lucky than those who spend their holiday at the hospital or at the streets.

Christine Bersola-Babao, Mickey Ferriols and Giesel Sanchez are only few of the celebrities who participated in Celebrity Christmas Bazaar for a Cause.They’re selling their old clothes, shoes, bags, belts and other personal accessories to raise fund.The money which will be collected will be used to give happiness and merrier Christmas to different social institutions for kids, old people and handicapped.

The very essence of Christmas is dreaming and hoping for good things to come for other people and not for ourselves.In our own little way, we can help too by donating our old books, toys, clothes etc to fast food chains’ charitable institutions.

Today’s technology allows us to experience an advance home setting like putting up flat screen TVs in our living room, using no sound or quiet types of  air-conditioned units in our bedroom, and the likes. I saw several homes of Filipino celebrities and many of them had made their own theater. It’s like a home theater. They just use projector and screen. Since they’re not ordinary citizens they can’t go to the shopping malls and see movies. That’s why big screen center learning center is a great help to people like them. Showbiz personalities are busy individuals because of the nature of their work. So if they have free schedules they spend it with their family and lovers through watching movies at home. It’s the perfect time to do family bonding. Another good thing is it saves money. Imagine six members of the family that will go to theaters at the mall and will watch 2 or 3 movies. That will cost much than buying DVDs and watch it at home.

Nowadays, contaminated products especially from China were found distributed and sold in the market. In our daily intake we didn’t notice that we are eating food daily with lots of preservatives. Eating food like canned goods is too unhealthy to the body if prepared for the family most of the time. In addition, planting some vegetables in our yards can help us to save money. Instead of buying we can just pick up what’s available in our food garden. I knew one family who’s doing it and if you see her children, all of them are really having good and vibrant skin. They’re not applying skin lotion because they can’t afford to buy it. They’re not rich on commercial products to be applied in the body but when you get to visit their house you can see leafy vegetables like cabbages, malunnggay and pechay. They also have squash, tomatoes, eggplant and more.However, if you don’t have the time you can do alternative ways on how to get the daily required dietary.

I do love gardening. I like to plant flowers, plants, and vegetables but since I’m not so good in nurturing agriculture ones I prefer to focus my attention with flowers. I did try to plant string onions in our Agriculture class. We were required to do it as a group. Aside from it, I haven’t tried more. I want to have my own garden in the future. I want to have a landscape in my own house. In my place there’s no enough space because we’re living in the city.

In Davao City riding a motorcycle as public transportation is normal. We know that this kind of vehicle is a private one which is suitable for singles or for certain personal purposes.In going to school, in reporting to any offices or in moving from place to place this is observable. It’s been used for a long time now in rural and remote areas but it’s restricted to travel in high ways carrying 4-5 people in one motorcycle without helmets!

The demand of motorcycles in the city is high because many commuters also prefer to ride in it rather than take the jeepneys. Moreover, it’s convenient for earners because they can earn a living plus they have their own service.In addition, it saves time! People can reach their destination at the right time since they can get rid of traffic jams.On the contrary,accidents cause by this vehicle is high. The people are not  following what’s regulated. According to our city mayor many could have survived in street accidents if they just wore the proper helmets!So the government is trying to stop this! They want to apply an administrative order that will require all riders to follow the rules. Like for instance, no wearing of slippers, wearing of head gears/helmets, riding boots or protective jacket.However, oppositions occur because it’s not applicable all the time in the Philippines. Unlike in cold and advanced countries, the purpose of wearing a black leather jacket is to fight colds while driving!Consequently, it’s hard for a family with 2 kids to go back and forth if the allowed passenger is only one! The government of Davao is having a hard time in solving this. Of course they want to provide jobs for the constituents of Davao but they also have to think on public safety!. In Marantao, Lanao del Norte the operation of Philippine army is still on going.Tanks are now based in fron of the City Hall. The kidnapped and death of one of the members of peace panel added to the conflict between the Muslim people particularly the MILF and Philippine Army. There are also canons used by the latter in their combat.

It was reported that many schools had canceled their classes because of the threats and on going battles in North Cotabato. Students have to stop reporting to their schools since it’s dangerous for them to roam around. Few days ago, my classmate in college who’s living in Lanao sent me a message through SMS. She’s my fellow teacher and she’s asking for our prayers because the MILF was attacking their place where the school is located! I felt sad about their situation. Pity for the residents because every time this terror happens they have to evacuate their homes and go to evacuation centers. Some of them claimed that they’re used to it. Others are still afraid of gun shots, bomb explosions and their endless struggles.

Last August 18 the town of Kolambugan in Lanao del Norte had been attacked by armed people. A mosque served as their refuge. The minister and the people are angry because according to them ,Koran or Qur’an (Holy Scripture of Muslims) is not teaching their fellow Moros to steal, kill and abuse people.

The most pitiful in the current event are the poor victims. They’re the ones who are much affected.Good news to all Filipinos because one of the most wanted criminals in the country in the person of Commander Jakiri was finally arrested. He was alleged to kidnap a Korean National few years ago.

As of today, 2 most wanted in the country are now being hunt by the authorities; Commander Umbra Kato and Commander Ameril Umbra. They’re the pointed individuals who are responsible for the conflict in Central Mindanao. Posters and leaflets are now scattered in Midsayap.

Davao belongs to Mindanao.I am thankful that we don’t have such difficulties in living our daily life. I am hoping that those problems in some part of Mindanao specially in North Cotabato, Sulu and nearby places will finally put to an end. May our president do more actions with regards to it. I know they’re doing their part. Perhaps it’s not just enough stop this struggles.
