Practice Makes Perfect

January 21st, 2009 | Category: Point of Views

My brother-in-law is fond of playing golf.He got only two sports; bowling and golf. My sister goes with him every time he plays. My sister is also into it since they go out together over the weekend.I heard that a golf in Chiemsee is great! I read some about it and I knew that they’re offering tutorials with regards to this kind of sport.Of course to be able to become a good player you should have a good teacher along with constant practice, dedication and willingness to be taught by those who already had the experience.

My brother-in-law visited Germany once. He’s into Golf sport.I’m not sure if he was able to play golf in Deutchland.I have relatives living in there and according to them they heard about this good  German golf portal for those who are beginners and aspiring golf players.

If you’re unaware I’m a teacher and we have one student in our center who’s sport is golf too. His dad is a trainer so it’s a big advantage to him! His father is teaching him since he was young and now he’s joining competitions in their country. He just came here in the Philippines to enhance his English proficiency. They feel that they need it since they’re competing worldwide!

When I was a kid I never admire golf but now that I’m already a grown-up I realized how great it is and how I appreciate the people who play good with it.Playing golf is not just about hitting the ball but it requires right timing and speed to perfectly reach your targeted hole/goal.

Practice makes perfect and good teacher will produce good students. So if you’re planning to learn some sports, have the teachable spirit plus learning with those individuals who have the expertise like. Not just only in ways and strategies but in choosing on which sporting materials are best for you.

Superstitious Beliefs in Holiday Season

January 06th, 2009 | Category: Point of Views

Do you have superstitious beliefs that you follow every time the New Year comes?

Well in the Philippines, there are many traditions and practices that people do and follow annually to observe this season. For every occasion it’s like you are ought to do things which are told to you by elders like birthdays, weddings, burials most especially when we celebrate Christmas or New Year. According to our ancestors if you do all those things it’ll bring fortune. We consider these things as superstitious beliefs. It is called so because the things we do is not proven by knowledge or reason  that it’ll have a specific outcome.

Most of these practices were adopted from Spanish people. Since they lived and ruled in the Philippines for a very long time, old Filipinos learned and copied their ways in the past. I made a list of some things that are done by Filipinos during holiday season

  • Have the complete set of 13 circular fruits on the table on New Year’s eve
  •  Don’t forget to have a sticky dessert because it means a closer bond and relationship to your love ones
  • Do not empty your wallet. It isn’t a good start of the year if you’re penniless.
  • Don’t spend money on the night of December 31!
  • Jump high on New Year’s eve if you want to get taller
  • Let the doors of your house open to welcome the positive energies and for the good things to enter into your household

In the case of my family, we’re not doing it. To some, nothing’s lost if you will try. My mom’s philosophy is different and we follow different ways to achieve the things that we want. No work, no glory. She doesn’t want us to get aligned with that kind of thinking.Superstition has no space in our house.

“We get lucky and prosperous if we have the right attitude along with hard work and love for labor”
