Money Matters!

Published by darnet under Communication, Finances

I can’t think of an area of marriage in which good communication cannot help. I’ve been reading some about finances and the issues that some couples have. If you simply remain open and honest about what you want to purchase it can prevent so many headaches. Instead of worrying about him finding the credit card receipt or entry in the checkbook just talk it over first. “What do you think about getting some new…?”

How can you help your husband in the area of finances? One important area is grocery shopping since you probably plan the meals and buy the food. There are several ways to be a frugal shopper.

Money is another area where it is best discussed between you and your husband. Each family may have different views. For instance, your husband may prefer to have you do the bookkeeping and bill paying. If so, do your best and be a good steward of this task he has entrusted you with. Don’t take advantage of him by purchasing outlandish things without him knowing just because you know you can. Be lenient with him when he wants to buy that new computer software and remember how much you wanted that bathroom decor. We each have wants and we should treat our husbands how we would want to be treated.

The bottom line is to talk things over about your budget if you’re having difficulties. Ask him if you can do something to help the financial situation (in the area of saving money). For instance, you might need to discuss things first when making purchases other than necessities, especially when the amount is significant Why not choose a time to talk to your husband about your family’s budget?
